Dr. Paul Raschky is a distinguished economist specializing in political economy, environmental economics, insurance economics, and development economics, with a particular focus on natural hazards. He completed his doctoral studies in 2008 at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and subsequently joined Monash University in 2009 after a research visit at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. 

At Monash University, Dr. Raschky serves as a Professor in the Department of Economics. He is a founding member and current director of SoDa Labs, a co-founder and director of the commercial spin-off KASPR Datahaus PTY LTD, and a co-founder of the IP Observatory. 

Dr. Raschky's research has been published in esteemed journals, including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and Journal of Public Economics. 

His expertise encompasses political economy, environmental economics, insurance economics, and development economics, with a focus on natural hazards. Dr. Raschky's work contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in areas related to economic development and environmental sustainability. 

In recognition of his contributions to research, Dr. Raschky has received several accolades, including the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) Award for Innovation and Excellence in Research in 2022 and the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research in 2016. Dr. Raschky's academic journey, leadership roles, and extensive research portfolio underscore his significant impact on the fields of economics and environmental studies.
