Why GDRI

GDRI combines gold-standard research methods with strong field presence to deliver evidence that is both academically rigorous and practically useful in real-world Bangladeshi contexts. Partners choose GDRI because of its track record with large-scale RCTs, nationwide implementation capacity (including coastal and refugee settings), low-tech scalable innovations (IVR, SMS, tele-mentoring), and consistent policy uptake of its findings.

Mission and Vision

Vision
We envision a society where positive changes are driven by evidence-based solutions.

Mission
Our mission is to promote education, climate change resilience, economic well-being, and health awareness among underprivileged people through evidence-based research and rigorous empirical investigation of development interventions.

GDRI works across seven interconnected thematic areas: education and learning, gender equality and workplace dynamics, health and maternal care, agriculture and livelihoods, behavioral economics and finance, COVID-19 and crisis response, and climate change adaptation. This integrated portfolio allows us to address complex development challenges that cut across schooling, labor markets, households, and vulnerable communities.

Our Approaches

We use rigorous quantitative and qualitative methods—including randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental designs, large-scale household surveys, FGDs, KIIs, and mixed-methods studies—to generate credible, policy-relevant evidence. Our approach emphasizes low-cost, scalable interventions (such as IVR, SMS, and community-based programs), strong community engagement, strict ethical standards, and end-to-end support from study design and MEL systems to data, capacity building, and policy translation.
