Our Impact

Our Impact

At GDRI (Global Development & Research Initiative Foundation), we transform development research into real-world impact through rigorous field implementation, comprehensive data operations, and end-to-end research execution across Bangladesh.

  • Research Excellence in the Field

Since our establishment in 2009, we have partnered with leading researchers, universities, and development organizations worldwide to design and implement gold-standard empirical studies in challenging real-world settings. Our expertise spans large-scale randomized controlled trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental designs, household surveys, focus group discussions, and mixed-methods research—all executed with academic rigor and practical precision.

  • Nationwide Implementation Capacity

We operate across diverse contexts throughout Bangladesh, including coastal areas, refugee settings, and hard-to-reach communities serving underprivileged and marginalized populations. Our field teams ensure proper implementation of interventions, strict adherence to research protocols, and high-quality, reliable data collection from study design through final analysis.

  • Contributions to High-Impact Research

Through our field support and data operations, we have contributed to research projects published in leading international journals including The Economic JournalFood PolicySocial Science & MedicineEuropean Economic ReviewJournal of Development Economics, and American Journal of Agricultural Economics. Our role in these projects focuses on intervention implementation, field operations, survey execution, and ensuring clean, analysis-ready datasets.

  • Thematic Reach and Innovation

We work across seven interconnected thematic areas: education and learninggender equality and workplace dynamicshealth and maternal careagriculture and livelihoodsbehavioral economics and financeCOVID-19 and crisis response, and climate change adaptation. Our portfolio includes pioneering low-cost, scalable innovations such as IVR (interactive voice response) systems, SMS-based interventions, and tele-mentoring programs that reach communities with limited infrastructure.

  • From Field to Policy

Our work extends beyond data collection—we ensure research translates into policy action. Through close collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and international development partners, we support the entire research lifecycle: from community engagement and MEL (monitoring, evaluation, and learning) systems to capacity building and policy translation.

  • Our Commitment

At GDRI, impact is defined by making evidence-based research possible in practice—through strong field execution, reliable data systems, rigorous ethical standards, and close collaboration with research and development partners committed to creating meaningful change for Bangladesh's most vulnerable communities.
